EDITOR

Who needs an editor? You do. I do. We all do.

As we write, our minds work ahead, considering and then selecting or rejecting words, phrases, and sentences to crystallize our thoughts. It’s amazing that our words ever make it to paper in the form we imagine.

We cannot edit ourselves. We know what we intended to say, and our eyes frequently think they see it, whether it is on the page or not.

A good editor offers a fresh, untainted look at your writing. Your editor will partner with you to get your manuscript as close as possible to providing your readers with the experience you intended when you began.

Your family, friends, acquaintances, coworkers, and peers are great resources for people to read sections and review drafts. Valuable information is always gleaned from good readers, and you may be surprised at the insightful suggestions you receive.

When you feel your book is ready, reach out. A good editor, your editor, will quite likely be waiting.
